Type-test evidence
Request complete type-test reports covering the exact ratings offered — rated voltage, current, short-time withstand current and duration, internal arc classification — issued by an independent accredited laboratory. Check that the tested design matches the offered design, including gas compartment arrangement and insulators.
Factory capability
Audit or commission an audit of the factory: quality management certification, cleanroom assembly, insulator production and X-ray inspection, routine test capability, and traceability of key components such as spacers, bushings and drives.
Australian acceptance
Many DNSPs and TNSPs maintain approved-equipment lists or require product evaluation. Confirm early whether the product is accepted by the relevant network operator, and what evaluation is required if not.
Lifecycle and support
Assess local service capability, availability of trained commissioning engineers, spare parts holding, SF6 or alternative-gas handling arrangements, and long-term support commitments. These often decide total cost of ownership more than purchase price.
